Benefits of a fixed bridge on implants
Dental implants can be the very best available restorative option for patients who have suffered tooth loss. Whether you wear dentures or your remaining teeth can not be restored or have weakened due to periodontal disease, dental implant supported teeth provides the most durable and natural option. However, traditional implant treatment for patients with hopeless teeth usually involves extraction of remaining teeth, grafting of jaw and/or maxillary sinus, wearing a full denture during graft healing, then placement of implants with an additional healing period before the final full arch restoration can be completed.
With Same Day Teeth we are able to immediately place your restoration on the same day as your extractions and implant placement.
The Same Day Teeth protocol uses some of the most advanced state-of-the-art technology in the profession to help us plan your surgery with the greatest accuracy and precision available. All of our procedures begin with a full imaging workup using a 3D cone beam computed tomography (CAT) scan. With these images, we use a surgical planning software that helps develop a treatment strategy and construct a surgical guide used throughout your entire procedure. Our computer-guided dental implant surgery allows for optimal placement of your implants. Next, we can place a bar supported, immediate full arch restoration during the same visit as your surgery. Our custom-designed prosthesis are milled from a solid block of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) using impressions and computer images of your bite. This material is biocompatible, is very strong and durable, and our laboratory technicians can color match your natural teeth for a seamless integration into your smile. This method provides an immediate enhancement to the function and aesthetics of your bite. Same Day Teeth can reduce or eliminate costly grafting procedures, as well as, significantly cut the time needed to receive your final full arch restoration.
If you have suffered tooth loss and would like more information on this immediate restorative option, we encourage you to schedule a personal consultation.

ALTERNATIVES TO A FIXED BRIDGE
|
An alternative to a fixed bridge is a removable overdenture, which is anchored on implants. The old fashioned denture has many disadvantages and should be avoided if possible. |
|
Removable, implant anchored overdenture
A removable full denture that is connected to either a ball or bar attachment, which in turn is anchored on two or more implants in the front part of the jaw.
The implants help keep the denture in place and provide better function and comfort. Cost is usually the reason why this solution is chosen over a fixed bridge – although the end result can’t be compared. |
|
Removable full denture
A denture that is loosely placed on top of the gum to cover the lost teeth. This alternative has no real advantages – except for its low price and easy installation.
The disadvantages are many: discomfort in eating, poor esthetics, affected speech, and sore gums from denture movement. Moreover, a full denture placed in the upper jaw severely reduces the sense of taste. |
